Eleven50 explores unsettling 'Attraction'
BY
JERRY CULLUMWHAT IT IS: Gallery Eleven50 hosts "Attraction
to the Dark," with two rapidly emerging painters who deal with
literal darkness or darkly unnerving subject matter.
BACKGROUND: Dorothéa Bozicolona-Volpe
continues to curate exhibitions in the rear gallery of Eleven50. This
time, she pairs Heather Stevens-Weese and Jeromie Neidlinger, artists
whose work has appeared in numerous alternative venues in recent months.
THE MESSAGE: Weese's paintings have an atmospheric
darkness to them that suggests cosmic reaches or psychological depths.
Designer turned painter Neidlinger's work is more directly unsettling
and deals with both spirituality and the darker side of emotional
life. Both use beauty to get at depth.
HOW TO SEE IT: As with other Eleven50 productions, the
show is viewable during club hours or by calling ahead to the club
office.
• THE 411: Through Nov. 6. Club opens 7 p.m. Fridays, 10
p.m. Saturdays. 1150-B Peachtree St., Midtown. [map / directions]
